Brooklyn, NY ---- The National Endowment for the Arts and the Puffin Foundation have awarded
funding to the non profit theatre Puppetry Arts of Brooklyn, New York, to sponsor a performance of the
organization’s original musical Anthropomorphic. A FREE showcase of Anthropomorphic open to the public will be
performed December 12 and 13 of 2009, at the Regal Theatre of Brooklyn, NY at 12noon. A Live 20 piece orchestra
will feature artists from the New York Symphonic Arts Ensemble (NYSAE) showcasing 10 original songs from the
musical score.
Writer and Executive Director of Puppetry Arts Tim Young intends to stimulate political and social thought and
invoke reasoning and change for the right to social equality and choice for individuals facing adversity, intolerance,
and hate. Anthropomorphic parallels its definition through Young’s vision of incorporating puppets and human-like
insects and animals and with an underlining narrative of imposing social standards and choices on one another
within a battle between homosexuality, faith, and death.
“This is an outstanding opportunity to expand our organization’s audience to include teens and adults with such a
provocative and significant storyline relevant to them,” says creator and Executive Director Tim Young. The
production will include hand puppets who will perform songs by Tom Swafford and Peter Solomon Gross with
lyrics by Young. The featured guest musicians from NYSAE will be conducted by NYSAE Musical Director Tim Hutto.
This FREE theatre event is located at Regal Cinemas 106 Court Street Brooklyn on December 12 and 13 with
performances at 12 noon. Material is not suited for youth under 12 years of age and the event will be Handicap
accessible.
